(1) From Burstall Day Use parking spot, we simply followed the
Burstall Pass Trail.
(2) About five minutes after passing a big boulder in the
middle of the trail, we turned left to a trail (cairn) which
led us up to this valley. This is also the time we realized
we left the book in the car, so we had to look for the most
logical approach to the col.
The scramble up to the col was very stressful for us. There
were a lot of loose, slippery rocks.
(1) Here's a view of the summit from the col.
(2) The final ascent to the summit was the most exciting
part of this trip. Here's alex ascending the crux. From a
distance, this part looks very steep, exposed and impossible
to ascend. It could fool you and make you turn back.
(1)
Beautiful warm weather with gentle cool breeze. We stayed up
here for a while to enjoy an outstanding view of the surrounding
peaks and the glaciers.
(2) Here's a sample of the ridge down from the summit. On
our descent, we scrambled down to the scree col and showered
ourselves with dirt while skiing back down to the valley.
