| Anmyeondo
Island |
June 10,
2006. This is a mini vacation my wife,
me and our Korean friends took. We went to Anmyeondo.
An island (connected by a bridge) that is about 2:30hr
drive south of Incheon, on Chungcheongnam-Do province.
It is on the southern tip of the Taean Seashore National
Park. |
|
 Our
first day was a total disaster. It rained as soon as we left
Incheon and it got worse when we reached our destination. The
rain would pause from time to time but it only gave thunder
and darkness a chance to voice their rage.
At some point, while having lunch at the beach, it got so dark
that it seemed like we were having dinner. Our tented restaurant
got flooded and almost gave up from the strong wind. |

| We spent
a little time on the beach, then we went to our
pension hotel (about the same size and price as
some motels but with kitchen and appliances).
These are our friends' kids playing soccer and
badmiton in the yard. They are very active and
excited about this trip too.
It was a good thing that they were jolly and playful
otherwise, we wouldn't have any source of entertainment
at the hotel while it was raining. |

 June
11, 2006. We woke up on a beautiful
day. After breakfast, we walked around the hotel and fed ourselves
with some wild berries growing in the yard.

| Kkotji
Beach |
We went back to Kkotji Beach to finally enjoy our time.
It was not always a full-sun but we would take an overcast
weather to a crappy rainy day. |

 (1)
The tide was very low at this time. The water was warm to touch
and a lot of people were swimming on the beach.
(2) The Grandpa and Grandma rocks are visible from the distance.
A famous landmark of Tae-an Seashore National Park. |
 (1)
We spent some quality leisure time at the beach.
(2) On our drive back home, we stopped for a snack at a local
fish market. We went to a floating restaurant for a taste
of some raw stuff. |
 (1)
One of them had a similar shape to a human heart but with spikes
(orange). It's called 'meung-ge'. The other thing is called
'he-sam'. It's like a hard-shelled sea cucumber. Very chewy.
(2) Now tell me if this octopus doesn't look appetizing. |
