August 2, 2006.
This is day 2 of my trip to Deogyusan National Park.
I woke up with a lot of farting and giggling in
the shelter. I wasn't really counting on getting
up early because I thought of staying on the other
shelter for another night. The farting and other
weird noises must be a rooster call here so I got
up and enjoyed the sunrise.
(1)
After having my nasty oatmeal for breakfast, I packed and hit
the trail for my next peak.
(2) This is Jungbong Peak (1594m/5230') 15mins from Hyangjeokbong.
(1)
Looking back to Hyangjeokbong from Jungbong.
(2) Looking forward to my remaining summits and many more
hours of hiking from Jungbong.
I was not the only one who was traversing the ridge. Some of
the fart knockers went to take advantage of the full sun and
heat bouncing off the vegetation on the trail.
In
some areas the trail is completely covered by plants and it
was hard not to get cut from the sharp leaves.
Some areas are totally exposed to the sun with only a little
bit of breeze.
(1)
Rest stop at 1380m/4528'.
The trail to here from Jungbong involves a lot of elevation
loss and some flat trails.
(2) Looking towards Muryongsan from my rest stop. The trail
from here and on was completely hidden by thick bushes.
(1)
This is Muryongsan Peak (1492m/4895') 3hrs from Jungbong.
(2) These are the remaining summits I planned to bag. Sakkatgoljae
Shelter (not visible) is below and before Sakkatbong.
The main objective here would be Namdeogyusan.
