Temple |
May 3,
2006. After my trip to Odaesan
National Park, I took an hour bus-ride from Gangneung
to meet my wife at Naksan. I checked-in at a Minbak then
went to this temple for sunset. |

Naksansa Temple is by far the most beautiful temple I've ever
seen. The location could be the biggest factor here because
it is by the sea.
On the night of Buddha's birthday, The glowing lanterns surrounded
the area with beautiful colours. The place was packed with followers
and visitors. |
 About
a year ago, this place suffered from a brutal forest fire. Most
of the vegetation and some structure were burned to the ground.
Monks and other volunteers are currently rebuilding the area
by planting new greens and reconstructing the affected temples. |

Provincial Park |
May 4,
2006. So this is where they come to get
the seaweed. The gentleman on the right showed us a new
way of fishing. No bait. He waits patiently for a fish
to appear, then he throws his hook to the water, and chase
the fish with it. If the fish is stupid enough to lose
the race, the fish gets the hook. |

 What
a beautiful day at the beach.
The town of Naksan is pretty tiny but a lot of tourists come
here to visit. For us, this place became our basecamp. There
are numerous amount of places to sleep and seafood restaurants
here, and convenient stores are in every building. |
 The
beach at night could be either peaceful or very loud. Tourists
here are free to pop some cheap fireworks right on the beach. |
