Algonquin Provincial Park is the oldest and one of the largest parks in Canada, located approximately 3 and a half hours northeast of Toronto on hwy 60.

(2) We arrived at around 10am at the park's west gate (km1).
This particular backpacking trail has 19km and 35km loops. Backcountry permits must be obtained and site reservation is highly recommended.

11am. After checking in at Mew Lake Campground, a few minutes drive east of the trail head, we begin our journey.
(1) Our first break looking over the Mew Lake.

(2) The first lookout printed on the map...not a lot to see really.

(1) 3pm. Our first camp at Provoking Lake West. It is fairly small, but has good privacy and easily accessible, but hidden privy. Don't be fooled by the angle.

(2) Gotta bear-proof. It is recommended to hang everything you have that has an interesting scent, yes that includes gum, toothpaste and flavoured drink.

(1) Our site is also close to a very accessible water source, Provoking Lake that is. We left at 10am the next day.
You wouldn't really carry too much water with you on a multi day trip like this, with a clear lake on every stop. Although, it is highly recommended to boil the lake water for at least five minutes before consuming.

(2) This is Head Lake.
(1) 4pm. Harness Lake. Our second camp for the second and third nights of our trip. This site is huge and has the most gorgeous and peaceful lake.
